Bedroom Painting Ideas - Making Your Bedroom Look More Inviting

Before you start painting your bedroom with your favorite color, you first need to know that there rules in painting your bedroom. Since this is your private retreat and is a part of the house that is least visited by other people, you can experiment and be creative about the decoration as well as the wall color. However, you should also follow the three basic rules in choosing the color for your room.

1. The first rule is the color family rule. For example, if you want to paint your room with the color blue, you should consider having a decoration inside your bedroom that will also have the shade of blue. This is called monochromatic schemes that is simple to do and very popular for most people. So, if you like a particular color for your bedroom wall, you should also get a shade of that color in as your lampshade color, your bed sheet color and also your picture frame color.

2. The second rule is the next door neighbor color rule. If you are familiar with the color wheel, you will have an idea on what kinds of color you should put in your bedroom. For example, if you like red, then the colors next to it in the color wheel will prove to be great combinations. If you choose red then you should also use the colors orange and violet. If you choose blue, then the colors green and violet can prove to be a great combination and so on. This color scheme is called the analogous color scheme.

3. The third rule is the Ying and Yang rule. Chinese beliefs suggest that you should have adequate Yin and Yang in your house. This means that there should be opposites of everything and this will include the colors. And, this proves to be true. It can create a harmonious environment that you will truly love. Most people love the basic black and white combination. You can experiment with different dark and light shades of colors and determine which can provide you with a great looking bedroom.

These are the three basic rules in providing a comfortable and relaxing environment in your bedroom. Be creative and you will definitely have different ideas on what colors you should paint your bedroom with.

White Bedroom Furniture and Interior Design

Selecting furniture pieces for a white bedroom is a fun and challenging task. You have to explore the possibilities of making the color white an attractive focal point for your entire design. The furniture pieces can either embrace white as their finishing color or emphasize it by taking on more neutral colors so that a brilliant white hue can come out. The route to take is to experiment with materials and finishes in order to find the perfect blend, the blend that will awe a spectator and would make him reconsider the role of pale colors as necessary elements or more accurately, a perfect element to use in order to create beauty from the underrated and the simple.

interior doors home depot

A traditional white painted bed with lacy pillow cases and floral patterned sheets and comforter alongside light oak side tables is a consistent white bedroom furniture set. You can never go wrong with a safe choice like that, but if you add a light green closet cabinet with distressed paint finish, you might think that would not work, but if this closet can have paneled doors with white painted within the panels, then you could probably reconsider your previous perception. It is all a matter of subtlety in infusing colors. White paint that is mixed with a small amount of red will create the color pink. To add pink in decor pieces in the bedroom such as throws and pillows will not turn out to be a regrettable mistake. Instead it can be a welcome addition to the white-dominated bedroom. Using metallic hues such as silver, chrome and gold could also enliven a stark white furniture pieces. If these colors were incorporated in the frames of the bed or in the legs and arms of the chairs and benches, then an interesting blend of colors will emerge. However, these colors, being unobtrusive, cannot take the attention away from the overall whimsical whiteness of the interior.

White bedroom furniture pieces with the right shades of finishing touches can bring a remarkable and awe-inspiring effect to the interior. Traditional white bedrooms with elaborate decors on walls, ceilings and furnishings can make you dream of far off places and 18th century romanticism while a modern white interior can awaken you from that dream and transport you to the marvelous world of the future. There is just something powerful and gripping about an all white interior. It never ceases to amaze with its simplicity and it never loses its individual luster when placed beside a colorful interior. It just never falters, holding its own beauty like a flaming torch for the world to see and experience.

Remodel Your Bedroom Doors

Want to make your bedroom more attractive so that you can enjoy life? This is not a silly joke. The happiness in life mainly depends on few things. One is interior decoration of your heart along with the interior decoration of your house, which is second. The interior decoration of the house helps form the interior decoration of the heart. Only when you feel pleasant at house do you feel like happy with you partner. When the house looks clumsy and congested, you will lose the interest to stay in that house though your wife looks good. So make use of mirrored bi-fold doors in your bedroom to get a new look for your bedroom.

interior doors

Apart from the doors you can also change the settings and the places of the objects in the bedroom to get a new feel. If people are used to sleep in one direction then it might be tough to change the objects here and there including the bed. In such cases you can change the rest all except for moving bed and the most important objects that you would like to see in the morning like the photo of your kid if he is staying away from you along with his grandparents. What a beautiful feeling to see his photo early in the morning. Despite this even some have a sentiment of seeing a quotation that makes their life principle.

INTERIOR DOORS

OK, now that we have completed with the rearrangement of objects then the next thing which we can think of is the mirrored bi-fold doors. They have triple effect to the bedroom in which you get these installed. Make the room appear larger than before as they occupy less space. Second is reflecting light so to brighten the nights with a minimal bed lamp. Apart from causing increase in light that flows in the room the mirror attached to the closet will skip the view of closet from the eyes of the visitors of your bedroom and have a beautiful look imagining it is a mirror.

Third advantage of using bi-fold doors is possible both in bedroom and bathroom where we try to dress up ourselves either for the day in or for getting ready to night. As they give you a modern look and feel of style to your bedroom you too can dress up a bit stylish to make your days special. Apart from the bedroom you can also fix the doors in the other parts of the house which needs careful installation. Even the bedroom fittings also need proper installation by the professional person to get the maximum benefits of the doors. The only maintenance activity which is needed from your side is to put some grease or oil in the junctions to prevent the noise when closing and opening the doors. There are several styles even in the bi-fold doors that can be used in the rest of the house part from bedroom like accordion and louvered types. You should prefer the selection based on the requirement in your house.

Try Some Off the Wall Bedroom Closet Door Ideas

If your bedroom closet has a dilapidated solid wood door that makes your room look old and outdated, you may want to consider some new bedroom closet door ideas. There are many alternative means to covering up a closet area including screens, curtains, drapes and even sheets. Most of these are very inexpensive but prices will be determined by the choices you make. Many of these ideas are contemporary in style with a modern flair that will fit any decor.

lowes interior doors

The options that are available for bedroom closet door ideas may be a little off the wall but they are all becoming common solutions to a boring problem. One example of this is the use of drapes to cover the closet doorway. These don't have to be expensive to implement and in many cases they can be interchanged with a number of different colors and styles. They take only minutes to install and if they become soiled you can use a different color as a replacement which will also give your room a new look. It is best not to use sheer curtains unless your closet is kept orderly. Most walk-in closets may require a double set of drapes to cover the entire width of the opening.

LOWES INTERIOR DOORS

Another form of curtains that make a great replacement for closet doors is beaded curtains. They come in a variety of sizes, styles and designs and can give your room a very modern appearance. These are not appropriate for a wardrobe though and other options for these may be necessary. These can help provide a decorative flair to your bedroom and can be found at many local department stores as well as some home supply stores such as Home Depot and Lowes. You can also use the same style of door as you would use on a pantry, utility room, laundry room or linen closet. These are usually a type of louvered door. They can be sliding, folding or swing doors and are relatively inexpensive to purchase.

Interior closet doors require a little more thought than most doors. This is because we want them to accentuate our decor and not be the center of attention. Most doors are contemporary because they contain very few lines and the ones they do contain are straight and sleek. This is the style of door that you want for a wardrobe but not necessarily for a bedroom closet.

Commercial solutions can be used on the interior of your home but are better suited to large rooms such as a gym or cafeteria. You want a design that will compliment your room's surroundings, something that is easy to change and inexpensive to purchase. Drapes, curtains, sheets and screens make the perfect choice to give your room a more modern appeal. To get more bedroom closet door ideas log onto the internet and do a general search. You will find a large array of ideas and products that can help you switch up your bedroom's appearance. Think outside the box when considering replacement closet doors.

Ideas For Sports Theme Bedrooms - Boys Baseball Bedroom

Sports-themed bedrooms for boys are always a great way to go for the athlete in your family. Here are some great ways to create a baseball theme boys bedroom on a budget.

1) Paint the room a basic beige color to mimic the color of the field. I used Benjamin Moore Deer Path #1047.

LOWES INTERIOR

2) Add a mural on one wall to create an at the stadium feeling in the bedroom. I used this easy-to-install mural for a great effect.

3) Choose a simple painted bed with an open headboard so the mural is easily viewable. For the bedding, you can purchase a sports-themed set, or just get a plain blue quilt, and jazz it up with accessories. Use baseball pillows/sheets/blankets for a more cohesive look.

4) Create a nightstand out of an old locker, or paint an old nightstand bright red and put a baseball knob on the drawers/door. You can also purchase nightstands that look like lockers. You can add a baseball lamp to pull it together.

5) It's easy to re-purpose an existing ceiling fan by painting it red or blue, and applying baseball decals, or you can find a great baseball fan ready to install at Lowes.

6) For window treatments, create a custom valance by using team pennants which you can find on Ebay! String them together with rope and tack them to the wall or string them to a curtain rod. Use plain blue panels for extra privacy.

7) For extra touches, add a baseball rug, baseball knobs to the closet doors, or some framed pictures of their favorite players.

Your boys baseball room is sure to be a hit with all his friends. Take me out to the ball game!

3 Fun & Creative Boys Bedroom Ideas

If you're looking for boys bedroom ideas to redecorate your son's bedroom, then you need to read this article. We're going to look at three popular choices for bedroom themes for boys of various ages.

lowes interior shutters

For infants, bedroom designs are really more for the parents' sake than for the boy. There are lots of great ways to design a nursery, whether you choose Pooh Bear, Noah's ark or some other design.

LOWES INTERIOR

At this age, it's really up to you how to decorate the room. A trip to your local paint store or a home improvement store like Lowes or Home Depot will give you lots of ideas for themes for young boys. Just keep in mind that if it's too babyish, you might find yourself with a 2 or 3 year old who wants his room redecorated because he's not a baby anymore!

For toddlers, up to about 9 or 10 years old, one of the most popular designs is Disney's Cars movie. Most boys love cars anyway, and Disney performs their usual movie-making magic with this one to make it even more popular.

Lightning McQueen, 'Mater, Doc Hudson and the gang can all be part of your son's room with a bit of work. As with most of the things Disney creates, they sell a ton of different products with Cars on them, including several things you can use to decorate a bedroom.

You can buy Cars wallpaper borders, wall decals, bedding and even a Lightning McQueen bed. Disney even offers a couple of patterns on their website for designing a Cars bedroom, right down to the specific paint colors to make it as authentic as possible.

For older boys, 10 or 11 years old on up through their teenage years, there are lots of options. Their favorite movies, music, video games, and TV shows are all potential themes for their bedroom.

The important thing to consider at this age is how quickly their tastes may change. All these things can change from one year to the next, and you don't want to have to redecorate their room every time they decide to want something new.

The best way to design a theme for older boys is to use colors and decor that are fairly general and then use things like posters, wall decals, etc. to "theme" the room. That way, when their favorite band/movie/etc. changes, you can change the bedroom without a huge amount of time or money invested.

Teens Bedroom Interior Design Ideas - Three Design Tips For Small Rooms

Is your teens bedroom located in a small room and you could use some help with interior design ideas? First, and most importantly, teens like to spend time in their own rooms, and if the space is small, you'll benefit from knowing a few decorating methods that will make your teen appreciative of their special place.

interior doors

Tip #1: Eliminate the clutter to make the room appear bigger.

INTERIOR DOORS

When a small room has large pieces of furniture that are juxtaposition with not even one inch of extra space, your teen will feel uncomfortable and cramped in the room. When a room is small and there is no design for storage, then clothes, books, papers, and things of all kinds tend to get piled up on top of each other; clutter is the result.

Tip #2: Choose wall colors that will make the room feel more spacious.

To create the illusion of more space, you don't have to use light-colored paint or wallpaper. You can use monochromatic decorating schemes, or various hues of one color family. Or, you can paint one wall blue and another wall green, which will create an equal intensity of calmness. Likewise, if you decorate with light-colored furniture and accessories, the space will feel bigger.

If using color seems scary to you, then here are a few design hints. When you paint two of the walls a light color and two of the walls a deep color, the deep-colored walls will look as if they're farther away than the light walls.

Paint that has a blue-gray color to it will make the room look as if the walls are receding; thus giving the impression that the room is larger than it really is.

The cool colors of purple, blue and green will also make a small room appear larger.

Tip #3: Consider using the principles of Feng Shui to decorate your teen's room.

Simply stated, Feng Shui is a method of placing furniture in such a way that it allows the chi (energy) to easily flow throughout the room. For example, a bed would be situated away from the door to give the room a bigger appearance.

There are many design advantages to the Feng Shui approach. If you search with your favorite browser for the term Feng Shui or Bagua Map, you will find pages of pictures, diagrams and explanations that will help you utilize a room's small space.

Master Bedroom Paint Colors - Creating the Right Mood to Match Your Decor

In home decorating, color is one of the most important tools you have to create atmosphere. Ideally, you will need to match color schemes to the style of home furnishings and even the architecture of the house. This is because mood is not determined by color alone but is created in the meeting of different design elements.

lowes interior doors

For example, the minimalist look characteristically brings together modernist architecture, clean lines, pure forms, natural materials and neutral tones, resulting in an airy, uncluttered feel. In contrast, the mood of the Tuscan look depends on warm, earthy colors. Other decorative styles are also associated with particular color palettes. A color style mismatch will prevent you achieving your overall goal.

LOWES INTERIOR DOORS

Because color and décor styles require this co-ordination, the furniture, fittings and style of master bedrooms may invite particular color schemes. Rules are made to be broken but simply imposing color schemes on pre-furnished rooms may not create the desired atmosphere. Use a color wheel to create your own color scheme.

Which Mood?

If you are intent on creating a certain mood, first ask yourself if the room and the furnishings will support it. If not, you may need to refurbish. If your furniture is stylistically reasonably neutral, you will be able to utilize most color schemes to create the mood you want.

Colors and Atmosphere

Pastels and Neutral Colors:

These colors are useful to create a sense of space and calm. Neutral colors help create a sophisticated modern look and will go with many different décor styles.

Primary Colors:

Bright basic colors can complement a contemporary room as well as adding cheerful accents to a room featuring cottage furniture. The mood is casual and informal.

Rich and Deep Colors:

Deep reds, greens and purples go well with antique décor schemes and dark woods. Their opulence can create a sensual effect that may be ideal for the bedroom.

Earthy Colors:

Depending on the depth of color, these colors too can help create a warm and sensual atmosphere.

Blue and White:

Blue is commonly chosen for bedrooms because it is a cool, calm color that fosters a sense of serenity and tranquility.

Black and White:

High contrast black and white color schemes suit rooms with unfussy furnishings, producing a cool, sophisticated look.

Browns and Burgundies:

Traditional master bedrooms are often frilly and feminine, perhaps with a 'boudoir' look. Deep, dark colors can create a more neutral or masculine atmosphere and an elegant feel.

Lighting, Color and Mood

If color is crucial to creating atmosphere, it is in turn dependent on lighting, both natural and artificial. Light can bleach or deepen colors and dramatically alter a room's atmosphere of. If using blues in a cool room, choose shades with more warmth. Similarly, if using yellows in a warm room, go for cooler shades.

Colored lights are one way of manipulating mood in a room without necessarily painting and changing soft furnishings. The right light can turn a bedroom that is neutral and cool by day into a room that is full of warmth and sensuality at night.

Installing Bedroom Sliding Doors - Some DIY Tips

If you want to install a bedroom sliding door, then you should realize that it is not impossible for the average person. Making the installation a do-it-yourself project is quite a good idea. However, you also should know that if you botch the job, you will be paying for it. A poorly installed sliding door can cause a variety of problems.

interior doors prehung

If you do not think that you are up to the challenge, then you might want to get some expert help. Did you know that the dealer you buy the sliding doors from can actually help you with the installation? Actually, when you go with this option, you can get the installation done in a matter of minutes.

INTERIOR DOORS

Why is getting expert help necessary? Well, installing sliding doors can be complicated in the measuring part. You need to make sure that your door frame is perfectly square and level. This goes the same for the door. Otherwise, you are going to have some problems in the installation process.

With a sliding door, you want to make sure that the structure that will bear the weight of the door, the top frame, will be able to bear the load properly. If the frame is made out of wood, you need to make sure that the wood is properly weatherproofed and will not rot or weaken over time. This is a very important factor to consider because a weak door frame could lead to more serious damage when the sliding door can no longer be supported by the frame.

The actual process of hanging the door also requires perfection. You need the door to be 100 percent square. This allows for the smooth and flawless operation of the sliding door. If you don't think you are up to the challenge, better get a professional.

Measuring is crucial. You need to make sure that the door you are getting is the same size as the frame. You also need to make sure that the door is perfectly square. How do you accomplish this? An easy way for you to do this would be to take the diagonal measurement of the door. If the measurements are equal, the door is squared.

If you do not intend to install the door immediately after you purchase it, you need to make sure that it is protected. You should store it in a dry, well ventilated area. Store it flat, not standing. You need to protect it from moisture, especially if it is a wood door. Why? Because certain types of wood can swell when exposed to moisture and that could mean problems during installation.

When installing the sliding door, you need to make sure that the bottom railing is exactly underneath the door. This can be a hard task to accomplish. Don't rely on your eyesight. What looks exact to you might not look exact to a measuring tape. You need to take precise measurements in order to make sure that the door fits perfectly onto the bottom railing and thus, works perfectly. Installing a sliding door is no joke.

If you truly want to DIY, then the installation of a bedroom sliding door should be done as carefully as possible. It requires that you put in some hard work. If, however, you want convenience at the cost of a few extra dollars, then you should just get expert and professional help.
