If you are located outside of a larger city, it may be necessary for you to use the propane as fireplace. The propane company will deliver a large storage tank that is left at the location. If you are worried about the appearance of the tank, some of them can be buried underground with just the top of the tank exposed so it can be refilled.. This tank will then be connected to the location of the gas fireplace. As the propane is used, the propane company will then come and refill the storage tank. How often refills are needed is determined by the size of the tank and how the propane is consumed on a daily basis.

The type of venting system will also need to be known before some of the internal working parts of the gas fireplace can be exchanged or upgraded. Replacement of the glass doors will be determined by the venting system. The gas fireplaces direct vent operates with the doors closed. But the ventless gas fireplace will operate with the doors open.
